About Room 2 Relate
My name is Lorna McGetrick and I hold a BA (Hons) Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. My training is Humanistic and Integrative and incorporates the following approaches:- Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Psychoanalysis, Existentialist Psychotherapy, Person Centred Therapy (PCT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Body Therapy, Object Relations Theory and Attachment Theory. While I am primarily concerned with a client’s particular dilemma and distress, the approaches I have trained in views the individual as a whole – body, emotions and psyche. The way I work with clients helps to develop awareness and insights into what prevents integration in the inner and outer expressions of their lives.
“The principle aim of psychotherapy is not to transport one to an impossible state of happiness, but to help (the client) acquire steadfastness and patience in the face of suffering.” C. G. Jung
I am a fully accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I adhere to IACP’s Professional Code of Ethics and practices, which ensures I operate from the highest standards of integrity, confidentiality and ethical behaviour. I am a committed professional who adheres to Continuous Professional Development, as set out by IACP.
